Tasks
- Setup and preparation of CNC lathes and turning-milling centers (with powered tools, counter spindles, and bar feeders) for individual parts and production runs
- Creating, customizing, and optimizing turning programs on the CNC controller or in the CAM system
- Selection of turning tools, indexable inserts, and cutting data; tool measurement; and maintenance of correction values
- Selection and preparation of clamping devices (jaw chucks, collets, mandrels); turning out soft jaws
- Implementation of new programs, production, and testing of the first part
- Turning of parts made of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and plastic—to drawing specifications, from bar stock, and as chucking parts
- In-process dimensional inspection (diameter, fits, threads, concentricity, surfaces) and documentation of measurement results
- Troubleshooting machining issues such as dimensional deviations, poor chip breaking, chattering, or tool wear
- Deburring and Finishing, Maintenance and Care of the Machine
requirements
- Completed training as a machining technician specializing in turning, a precision machinist, an industrial mechanic, or a comparable profession
- Work experience in CNC turning, including setup and programming
- Proficiency with a common control system (e.g., Siemens, Fanuc, Mazatrol); experience with powered tools and a counter-spindle is a plus
- Ability to accurately interpret technical drawings, including fits, tolerances, and geometric and positional specifications
- Safe Handling of Measuring Instruments (micrometers, internal gauges, thread gauges, limit gauges, concentricity checks)
- Knowledge of materials, cutting tools, and cutting parameters
- An independent and meticulous work style
- Willingness to work shifts
